Shree Meenakshi Sthothram (1984) LP – Ilaiyaraaja Devotional

Shree Meenakshi Sthothram Vinyl Record – Ilaiyaraaja Devotional Vinyl

The Shree Meenakshi Sthothram vinyl record presents Sanskrit devotional stotrams attributed to Jagathguru Sri Adi Sankara Bhagavath Padhal, with music composed and rendered entirely by Ilaiyaraaja himself. This 12-inch, 33 RPM record carries four tracks across two sides, including the title hymn "Shree Meenakshi Sthothram" and "Shree Meenakshi Ashtakam," devotional compositions in praise of Goddess Meenakshi of Madurai.

About the record: This is a devotional album rather than a film soundtrack, featuring Sanskrit stotrams composed by the Adi Shankaracharya tradition. Ilaiyaraaja composed and personally performed the music for all four tracks, released on his own Echo Records label (catalogue 8000 003).

For the collector: This devotional Tamil vinyl LP suits listeners who follow Ilaiyaraaja's devotional and Carnatic-rooted work beyond his film scores, devotees of Goddess Meenakshi, and collectors of old Tamil devotional vinyl records. If you want a Shree Meenakshi Sthothram vinyl record to buy online, or you are building a shelf of devotional vinyl records, it is a fitting addition.
