About the Film

Kannukku Mai Ezhuthu (1986), meaning "Put kohl around the eye," was written and directed by Mahendran and produced by K. L. Bose, starring veteran actress Bhanumathi alongside Sujatha. Ilaiyaraaja composed the soundtrack, with vocals from S. Janaki, Ilaiyaraaja himself, Malaysia Vasudevan, S. P. Sailaja, Vijayaramani, Saibaba, Bhanumathi, and B. S. Sasirekha. Contemporary reviewers were mixed on the film itself but generally singled out the music as one of its strengths.
